The "Secret" In The Secret Life Of Pets

Like my prior review of the rebooted Ghostbusters, this is another commentary in which I share my thoughts on a movie I have not seen. Again I must say that this film looks like it might not be good. I say this because the "secret" is obviously (easy to discern from the trailers) that the pets lives are anthropomorphized. Anthropomorphism being "the attribution of human traits, emotions, and intentions to non-human entities".

That the pets are mini-humans with fur is SO predictable. In that it's been done many many times before. And, with a documentary-sounding title like The Secret Life of Pets, I was thinking that MAYBE the filmmakers were going to try something else.

Which isn't to say that that I'm writing this movie off already. I am willing to give it a chance, despite it following the same old formula of animals being anthropomorphized in cartoons. Or in live action movies where the main characters are animals (I'm thinking the Incredible Journey remake in which the animals were given voices, whereas in the original film they did not speak).

I definitely plan on picking up the film soundtrack CD, however, given that it is by one of my favorite composers, Alexandre Desplat.

I didn't mention the Theodore Shapiro score for Ghostbusters in my prior commentary because I'm not sure I'm going to buy it. I'll wait until I see the movie, and then I might pick it up used later. Also, I heard that Elmer Bernstein's Ghostbusters Theme is NOT featured.

  1. Spreading The Word
I must be a GREAT writer.
Shaw and her plagiarizing buddies are stealing my posts and posting them all over the net. Including my little ditty about TP, Trump/Pence.
It's easy to understand since their own writing is hate filled garbage. They cant' even spell correctly. Shaw writes her dripping hate about Trump, everyday. She lives to write hate about one person, everyday. She must be deeply troubled in her mind. She can't wait to get up everyday, very early, and write hate.
Yet, she continues to write about how sick plagiarists are. I would pity her but she is such a hypocritical, lying bitch, I can't have any pity for her.
Keep stealing and posting my words all over. It's good that people get to read GREAT writing.

  2. Trump Is Their Nominee
People who write and say hate about Trump are playing in to Trump's hands. He wants division. He wants you to enhance the message he has. Trump and Clinton are tied in the national polls. If Trump is so bad, where is the condemnation for the American people who voted? It seems those who hate Trump so much are to cowardly to call American voters the same scum like words they use about Trump.
Trump is the choice of 40% of the American people, not just 45% of Republicans. Clinton is the choice of 55% of Democrats, but still only 40% of Americans nationally. These haters on the left even attacked Sanders whose only crime was to try and win the nomination of the Democratic party. Seems the Clinton supporters use hate against anyone challenging their candidate. But it's the American people casting the votes to make Trump a front runner.
It's not the Trump supporters who started the violence in the streets. It's not Trump supporters who are killing our cops. That violence is being done by forces on the left. So who are the scum that earn our condemnation? Those whose ideas are repugnant, or those whose ideas drive people to violence? Either way it's hate driving this election and our decision on who to vote for.
I'm not joining that hate. I don't write hate about either Trump, or Clinton. I don't post silly pictures, cartoons, or videos that cast candidates as Hitler, or other evil killers. I do write about what I think is a good, or bad course for America and its politics. And hate is not a basis for voting, or not voting for anyone. But you go ahead and try to convince people who to vote for based on hate and just add to the already vitriolic atmosphere. That will help. That will solve our problems - NOT.

  3. Two off topic comments from a TOM (no way to know which TOM... as there are many). This TOM seems to be as hate-obsessed and delusional as all the other TOMs, though. And clearly very jealous of Shaw Kenawe. Must be why he claims Shaw is stealing his comments. Who the hell would want to claim TOM's words as their own?

BTW, I call bullshit on your claim that "forces on the Left" are responsible for "violence in the streets" or "killing our cops" and say TOM is adding to the already vitriolic atmosphere and playing into Trump's hands with these divisive lies.

  4. TOM is also posting the same comments on other weblogs. You are right Dervish there are apparently a few TOMs. This particular TOM is, IMO, a sack full of human excrement.

A troll of the lowest order. As bad as Trump may be even Trump would likely find TOM revolting.
